We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Asbestos Paralegal/Legal Assistant to join our team in New York, New York. In this role, you will provide critical support in managing asbestos litigation cases, collaborating closely with attorneys and legal staff to ensure smooth case progression. Responsibilities:
• Manage all aspects of asbestos case dockets, ensuring accurate tracking and timely completion.
• Conduct thorough research to locate individuals and gather case-specific information using online resources and public databases.
• Review, analyze, and summarize medical, legal, and other essential records relevant to case proceedings.
• Draft legal documents including correspondence, pleadings, discovery requests, motions, and other filings.
• Maintain both physical and electronic case files, ensuring they are organized and easily accessible.
• Input and manage large volumes of data with precision and attention to detail.
• Communicate effectively with clients, attorneys, family members, and external parties to gather and verify necessary information.
• Coordinate shipment and tracking of case-related materials to ensure timely delivery.
• Process vendor invoices and manage billing-related tasks.
• Work collaboratively with attorneys and legal staff to address case challenges or claims, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines efficiently.
• At least 3 years of experience in asbestos litigation, personal injury law, or medical malpractice.
• Strong proficiency in verbal and written communication to handle case documentation and correspondence.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Capability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds when handling case files or materials.
• Demonstrated reliability, self-motivation, and excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.
• Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in high-pressure situations.
• Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across teams and external stakeholders.
