A well-established law firm is seeking a detail-oriented Legal Assistant to provide comprehensive administrative and clerical support to a team of attorneys. This hybrid role offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative setting while handling a variety of legal and administrative responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Draft, format, and revise correspondence, memoranda, legal documents, and forms.
- Proofread materials for accuracy, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting.
- Manage and prioritize workload to meet attorney-established deadlines.
- Assist attorneys with client intake and ongoing client communications.
- Maintain organized electronic and paper filing systems.
- Coordinate scheduling for court appearances, depositions, hearings, court reporters, expert witnesses, and other legal proceedings.
- Arrange travel and conference logistics, as needed.
- Support administrative and accounting-related tasks, including billing support, matter intake and updates, check requests, and pro forma edits.
- Collaborate with and provide backup support to other legal support staff, as needed.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
- Follow workplace safety policies and maintain an organized and professional work environment.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of administrative experience in a law firm. Commercial litigation experience preferred
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Working knowledge of legal terminology, legal documents, and general law office procedures.
- Familiarity with practice-specific processes such as docketing and electronic court filing (practice-area dependent).
- Strong technical proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and document management systems.
- Excellent attention to detail, including proofreading and minor editing of legal documents.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- High level of discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
