A busy and well-established insurance defense law firm in Downtown Los Angeles is seeking a Legal Assistant to support the Managing Partner. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced legal assistant who enjoys a fast-paced litigation environment and wants to continue developing their paralegal skills.
The role is approximately 80% legal assistant responsibilities and 20% paralegal work, with a clear opportunity to take on increasing paralegal responsibilities and advance within the firm.
The Opportunity
- $75,000-$90,000, depending on experience
- 100% in-person in Downtown Los Angeles
- Directly support the Managing Partner
- Busy insurance defense litigation practice
- Approximately 80% legal assistant / 20% paralegal

Responsibilities
- Provide high-level administrative and legal support to the Managing Partner
- Assist with scheduling, calendaring, correspondence, and case organization
- Prepare, format, proofread, and revise legal documents
- Assist with pleadings, discovery, filings, and case management
- Maintain litigation calendars and monitor important deadlines
- Assist with document preparation, production, and organization
- Support attorneys with deposition, mediation, and trial preparation
- Prepare document shells, tables of contents, and other litigation materials
- Handle general legal assistant responsibilities while taking on increasing paralegal duties
- Help keep a busy insurance defense practice organized and running efficiently
Qualifications
- Prior experience as a legal assistant in a litigation environment
- Insurance defense experience is strongly preferred
- Familiarity with California litigation procedures, calendaring, pleadings, and discovery
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Professional communication skills and a proactive, team-oriented approach
- Someone who is interested in building a long-term career and growing into a paralegal role
