Responsibilities Include
- Maintaining and organizing physical and electronic client files
- Handling file opening, closing, indexing, scanning, and records management
- Supporting trust and estate administration matters, including gathering asset information and preparing correspondence
- Proofreading legal documents and correspondence for grammatical, spelling, formatting, and consistency prior to filing or client distribution
- Assisting attorneys with preparation and filing of Surrogate’s Court pleadings and related documents
- Managing court filings, service of process, and tracking deadlines
- Communicating with clients, court personnel, financial institutions, and third parties
- Assisting with document production, binders, exhibits, and hearing/trial preparation
- Providing general administrative and file clerk support, including mail, copying, and document management
- Helping maintain office systems and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations
Qualifications
- Prior law firm experience preferred, particularly in trusts and estates, probate, or litigation
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with court e-filing systems a plus
- Paralegal certificate preferred, but not required for candidates with relevant experience
