Practice Assistant (Contract-to-Hire)
We are seeking a Practice Assistant to provide administrative support to attorneys in a fast-paced legal environment. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity, ideal for someone looking to get their foot in the door at a professional services firm with the potential to convert to a full-time role based on performance and business need.
Practice Assistants serve as the primary administrative point of contact for assigned attorneys and play a key role in supporting day-to-day operations. The role requires strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering a high level of service.
Responsibilities
- Act as the administrative liaison between attorneys and internal and external clients
- Manage calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate travel arrangements
- Answer and respond to incoming calls on behalf of assigned attorneys
- Prepare, edit, format, and proofread legal and business documents
- Process and reconcile attorney expenses and corporate credit card accounts
- Enter and proofread time entries and assist with billing reviews
- Coordinate courier, messenger, and shipping services
- Order catering and support meeting and event logistics
- Maintain contacts and business development activities in internal systems
- Assist with special projects and provide backup support to other assistants
- Perform general administrative duties including printing, scanning, and filing
- Notarize documents as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 1+ year of administrative or professional office experience
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to handle both routine tasks and higher-level responsibilities
- Comfortable working independently and within a team
