Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Legal Assistant role based in Columbus, OH. The Legal Assistant will support attorneys with case management, including organizing files, preparing legal documents, and maintaining accurate records. Daily responsibilities include drafting correspondence and basic legal forms, managing calendars and deadlines, scheduling client meetings and court appearances, and assisting with client intake. The role involves communicating with clients, courts, and other parties, as well as conducting basic legal research and fact gathering under attorney supervision. The Legal Assistant will also handle administrative tasks such as data entry, document scanning, and coordinating logistics to ensure efficient office operations.
Qualifications
- Strong legal administrative skills, including document preparation, file management, and calendar coordination.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with clients, attorneys, courts, and external stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and priorities accurately.
- Proficiency with office software and legal practice tools (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, case management systems).
- Ability to conduct basic legal research and gather factual information under attorney guidance.
- Professionalism, discretion, and respect for client confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced law firm environment.
- Prior experience as a legal assistant, paralegal, or in a legal office setting preferred.
- Associate’s degree, paralegal certificate, or comparable education or experience in the legal field is beneficial but not required.
- Familiarity with Ohio court procedures and legal terminology is a plus.
