Description
Position Overview
Rush University Medical Center's Enterprise Project Management Office (PMO) is seeking a discovery-focused Project Intake Manager to join the Strategy, Intake & Discovery team. This individual will play a pivotal role in advancing pre-project activities — including ideation, prioritization, and scoping — to help the PMO reduce a growing backlog and prepare initiatives for successful execution.
This role is not centered on large-scale project execution. Instead, the focus is the critical pre-project work of defining scope, resources, budget impact, and readiness. Strong project management fundamentals are essential, as many discoveries mirror project-level structure and rigor.
Key Responsibilities
Lead discovery efforts across a portfolio of enterprise initiatives — defining scope, resources, and budget impact before efforts advance into execution
Support intake and prioritization processes, helping the PMO effectively triage and manage its backlog
Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to identify project resource needs, dependencies, and key milestones (e.g., IT infrastructure elements such as networking, migrations, decommissioning)
Utilize Monday.com as the primary PMO platform for tracking discovery work
Provide project management leadership on discoveries that require full project-level structure
Contribute process improvement recommendations as natural opportunities emerge
Explore ways to leverage AI and GenAI to streamline PMO workflows and decision-making
