Title:
Undergraduate Intern: Intake Coordinator
Schedule:
- Part-time, 8-10 hours per week required.
- Availability required in the afternoons and evenings on weekdays, and/or availability on weekends (Saturdays/Sundays)
- This role has a one-year commitment, with a start date in August and an end date the following July
Compensation:
$17 per hour
Responsibilities:
- Schedule and conduct screening phone calls with prospective patients
- Take notes and document patient demographics, medical and mental health history, reasons for seeking treatment, etc.
- Collaborate with clinicians and office administrators to match patients with appropriate clinicians for treatment
- Maintain Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) law and proper patient discretion at all times
Qualifications:
- Junior or Senior enrolled at a 4-year university
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Health Sciences, or another related field
- Must have US work authorization
- Must have access to a laptop and a private, uninterrupted space
Ideal Candidate:
- Has previous experience working with community members with various needs, whether in food service, retail, a physician's office, university advising office, etc.
- Has taken relevant courses in abnormal psychology, psychopathology, interpersonal communications, intercultural dynamics, and other people and community-focused courses
- Has a high level of competence, respect, and empathy for diverse populations
- Self-motivated with the ability to complete tasks independently
- Excellent communication skills
Work Location:
- Remote; must have consistent, uninterrupted access to a private space in accordance with HIPAA law and patient privacy standards
- Must be located in New York State
- Must have a laptop or other desktop computer
