Patton & Buller PLLC is seeking a full-time Legal Assistant to join our growing and dynamic team in downtown Boise, Idaho. The Legal Assistant will support the Firm’s legal deliverables while ensuring an exceptional client experience.
Responsibilities include supporting client-facing and administrative tasks, while managing legal support responsibilities, including document review, legal research, and data management. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and possess strong interpersonal and business skills. Legal experience, including experience with Idaho’s state and federal eFiling systems, is preferred. Compensation: $20 - $26/hr DOE.

Role Description
As an Executive Legal Assistant, you are a leader in uncovering clients’ administrative needs and creating a warm and welcoming office environment. You balance this leadership while supporting the legal solutions that the Firm is developing for our clients. You have a keen eye for meticulous details and rigorously review documents for accuracy of client information. You will become highly skilled in grammatical and technical edits, as well as preparing and filing court documents both in federal and Idaho state courts.
In this hybrid role, you are often both the first person our clients will interact with and an important reviewer of their documents. While your primary focus in review will be ensuring accuracy of client information, you will also use your developing functional and technical editing skills to ensure the highest quality of work product for the Firm. You will also become skilled in basic legal research tasks—able to look up pin citations for cases and statutes, verify whether a case has been reported, check to see if a specific case has been cited, and other similar types of legal research tasks.

The job functions of the Legal Assistant will include reception tasks (in support of and collaboration with other support staff), administrative tasks, and legal support tasks.
Reception Tasks:
- Managing inbound phone, email, and txt messaging systems as the first point of contact for potential and current clients;
- Greet clients with a warm welcome and ensure they are comfortable in our office;
- Client and staff beverage and snack stock management;
- Staff and client meal coordination, coffee preparation, and other related tasks or business errands; and
- General office and appliance cleaning.
Administrative Tasks:
- Inputting and managing calendar appointments and task reminders for attorneys;
- Review draft documents for grammatical, syntactical, and input errors;
- Review draft documents for accuracy of client-provided information (such as email addresses, birth dates, spelling of names, etc.);
- Manage documents as directed in accordance with established workflows; and
- Complete miscellaneous errands for the business or attorneys to maximize attorney availability.
Legal Support Tasks:
- Input client data, as directed, with completeness and accuracy;
- Review Firm-generated documents for completeness and accuracy of client information;
- Generate letters of engagement/nonengagement/disengagement as directed, with complete and accurate (1) client information and (2) special inclusions;
- Review Firm-generated documents for grammatical and technical accuracy;
- Research administrative processes needed for representation (such as calling the Secretary of State to understand the current domestication process of an out-of-state entity or calling the county clerk to understand a filing process);
- Perform basic legal research tasks as directed (such as looking up the code provisions for the Idaho Uniform Limited Liability Act, checking whether a specific case has been cited, verifying a case has been reported, and other similar types of specific legal research); and
- Verify the accuracy of pin citations to statutes, regulations, case law, or other authorities.

Qualifications
- Experience in the legal industry, specifically in litigation, is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in document preparation, including drafting, formatting, and organizing documents and correspondence.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with clients, attorneys, courts, and external partners.
- Administrative skills, including calendar management, document management, and general office support.
- High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail in managing documents and deadlines.
- Comfort using office software and legal practice management tools; ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Ability to work on-site in Boise, ID, manage multiple tasks, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
