Role Description
This is a full-time (37.5 hour work-week), on-site role located in Portland, OR. Hybrid opportunities may be available after 90 days of employment and once training has been completed. As a Legal Assistant, you will provide administrative and organizational support to attorneys, manage case-related documentation, prepare and file legal documents, and assist in daily operations.
In this role, you will have the ability to perform the below essential functions with proficiency:
- Familiarity with court procedures for Oregon and Washington State, Appellate, and Federal E-filing.
- Administrative Assistance, including scheduling, organizing, and general office support tasks
- Maintaining attorney calendars / accurately docketing court deadlines
- General knowledge of state and federal court procedures and rules
- Litigation experience
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Knowledge of corporate and general business
- Experience in Bankruptcy, Foreclosure or Collections
- Proficiency in legal tasks such as legal document preparation, understanding of legal processes, and knowledge of relevant legal terminology
- Proven ability as a Legal Assistant, with attention to detail and the organizational skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently
- Ability to work under pressure, maintain client confidentiality, and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in managing confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
- Good interpersonal skills and willingness to contribute to a team environment
- Support a client service philosophy and work in a professional manner
Preferred Knowledge and Minimum Qualifications:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other applicable computer programs required to manage the practice
- Knowledge of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac foreclosure process and reporting
- Excellent attention to detail and proofreading skills
- Highly organized, efficient, and resourceful
- Strong Communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting effectively with clients, attorneys, and external contacts
- Associate’s degree or certification in Paralegal Studies, Legal Assistance, or a related field preferred
- Previous experience in a law firm or legal department will be considered an asset
Additional responsibilities include client communication, document review, scheduling meetings, and maintaining case files to ensure efficiency within the team. As a legal assistant, you will provide support and your experience to assisting and supporting the creditor's rights team to deliver timely and quality service for our clients. A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a high level of accuracy, professionalism, flexibility, and cooperation as essential aspects of overall competency.
